The Wild

system skirting the rugged cliffs and shoreline of the westcoast of
Vancouver Island. Overlooking Barkley Sound and the Broken Group Islands

A Painting A Day....or Two..
A Painting A Day....or Two.. May 16th
Yes!!! I'm going to try to do this little exercise as well and working on my bigger landscapes and theme show paintings. I did a series of the "glimpse" paintings years ago and I've always loved the effect. I find them quick to do and they help me with the brush work for my larger pieces. And no Daria and Dan, I'm not putting a fairy or a dragon in them ;)

Acts of Contrition
"Acts of Contrition"
This painting was way out of my comfort zone to do. I've never been overly fond of painting people in a realistic fashion, although I really did enjoy working on the hair. The glass bottles posed some challenges too but I was pleased with the end result on those. This painting was to depict that all things are not always perfect post-feminist movement and that everyday pressures on women pile up in to feelings of guilt and inadequacy. I did this painting as part of a celebration of 60 years of art at the Art League. This painting did not get into the show but was a excellent learning experience for me in dealing with other subject matter other than landscapes.

Pop Art
I recently joined a gallery that encourages artists to step out of their comfort zones and try new media and subjects, this is what I came up with for the theme Pop Art for this month. I have to say it was a lot of fun messing around with this. I even got Dan involved and helping out with the collage part.
